Houston Eye Associates is excited to welcome Rushi N. Mankad, M.D. to our outstanding group of physicians.
Dr. Rushi N. Mankad was raised in rural Hobbs, New Mexico, where he developed an early passion for medicine through the example of his father, a general internist. He attended the
University of New Mexico and earned early acceptance to medical school through their Combined BA/MD Degree Program. There, he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism honor societies in recognition of his academic achievement and compassionate patient care. Inspired by the profound impact that restoring vision has on quality of life, Dr. Mankad pursued ophthalmology and completed his residency training at the
University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he was selected to serve as Chief Resident.
Dr. Mankad completed advanced training in global ophthalmology, treating underserved patients in India and the Philippines. His research in diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration has been published in peer-reviewed journals, presented at national meetings, and awarded Best Resident Presentation at his program. He is an associate editor for the Ophthalmology Business Minute magazine and has lobbied for his profession on Capitol Hill as an American Academy of Ophthalmology Advocacy Ambassador. He is currently board eligible with the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Mankad is excited to begin his career in Houston with his fiancée, closer to their families. He speaks conversational Gujarati and looks forward to caring for the diverse communities throughout the Greater Houston area. He eagerly awaits becoming Houston’s newest Rockets, Texans, and Astros fan, exploring the local coffee scene, and working toward his goal of visiting all U.S. national parks.
Dr. Mankad strives to provide his patients with the highest quality of care and looks forward to seeing you and your family at our West Houston, Gramercy, Memorial City, and Katy locations.
