Dr. Megan Heany’s journey from a small-town Nebraska farm to a leading optometrist in Houston, Texas is a testament to her dedication and expertise. After graduating with honors from Nebraska Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology, Dr. Heany distinguished herself through leadership roles in campus organizations and active community volunteering.
She continued her pursuit of excellence at the University of Houston College of Optometry, earning her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2007. During her studies, Dr. Heany contributed to research on the visual effects of pituitary tumors and gained extensive hands-on experience through externships in Dallas, TX and Houston, TX, refining the skills essential for a successful optometry career.
Recognized by The Vision Care Institute in Jacksonville, Florida, Dr. Heany specializes in contact lens fitting for astigmatism and bifocal/multifocal lenses. Her deep expertise in this area allows her to expertly address even the most complex contact lens challenges.
Dr. Heany began her professional career in rural Alvin, TX, where she managed a wide range of eye conditions and provided comprehensive care across all ages. Her path then led her to a partnership in a renowned LASIK clinic in Sugar Land before joining Houston Eye Associates in 2014.
Outside of her professional achievements, Dr. Heany is a proud mother of four. She enjoys reading, staying active, and traveling, balancing her personal and professional life with grace and enthusiasm.
