Dr. Wittenberg specializes in the medical and surgical management of patients with uveitis and ocular immunology.
Dr. Wittenberg attended the University of Kansas, where she earned a Bachelor of Architecture. She went on to earn her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School, where she also completed her ophthalmology residency. Following her residency, she completed fellowship training in ocular immunology-uveitis at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
Her education and experience have made her well-prepared to diagnose and treat uveitis, a form of eye inflammation that can be caused by autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis.
Dr. Wittenberg is committed to providing her patients with the best possible care. She takes her time with her patients, getting to know them so they are comfortable asking any questions they might have. She strives to ensure her patients have a complete understanding of their disease. Patient care is tailored to each individual, including a care plan that is appropriate to each patient. She also values her patients’ time and makes every effort to keep wait times as short as possible.
Dr. Wittenberg is a leader of new treatments and research for uveitis, She is involved in research and outcome of uveitis disease treatments. She is committed to educating professional colleagues, students and others in the eye-health industry. Her work has been published in various professional ophthalmology publications, and, for the past 15 years, she has traveled and lectured on rheumatology at major universities and at industry events. She has given national presentations on uveitis at ophthalmology meetings and to specialty groups, and she’s traveled around the country speaking before uveitis and autoimmune disease support groups.
Dr. Wittenberg is a member of the American Uveitis Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Texas Medical Association, and the Texas Ophthalmological Association.
