Sherif Khalil, M.D. is a native Houstonian in spirit and education. Medicine has been an integral part of his life, as his parents and wife are also physicians in Houston. Dr. Khalil attended St. John’s High School in Houston and then graduated with honors from Vanderbilt University. He then returned to Houston to pursue his medical degree, residency in Ophthalmology and an additional year of fellowship training in Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery from the University of Texas Health Science Center-Houston.
He practiced in west Houston for eight years with H. Tom Youens, M.D. before joining Houston Eye Associates. His surgical practice is focused on two primary areas: “no needle, no stitch” cataract surgery and plastic surgery of the eyelids. Attention to detail before, during, and after surgery is given to each patient by Dr. Khalil himself. Medical decisions are based on evidence, and you will find the practice to be friendly and ethical.
He is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is an active member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Khalil is the acting Chief of the Ophthalmology Department at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital.
Dr. Khalil supports a variety of charities including Friends of Egyptian Children with Cancer, Benevolent Missions International, Houston Eye Associates Foundation and Coptic Orphans. He has traveled to Belize with Benevolent Missions International, performing cataract surgery on the indigent population there.
Dr. Khalil enjoys jogging, reading, and cooking out with family and friends. He resides in Memorial with his wife, Elaine, and three children (Kathryn, Carter, and Clayton). He looks forward to meeting you and your family and providing you with the best options for your eye care.
Dr. Khalil sees patients in our Memorial City and Katy locations.
