Richard L. Kimbrough, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Kimbrough was born in Athens, Texas in 1946. His older brother, Bill, is an orthodontist in Kingwood, and his twin brother, Bob, owns a ship supply company in Houston.

Dr. Kimbrough graduated from high school in Midland, Texas. He is a graduate from the University of Texas at Austin. He was a linebacker on the U.T. football team. Dr. Kimbrough was a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged. Dr. Kimbrough received his M.D. from the University of Texas Medical School at Galveston and spent additional years in ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, and one more year studying glaucoma at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Kimbrough is board certified in ophthalmology with sub-specialization in glaucoma and cataracts.

Dr. Kimbrough is married to Kathy, an interior decorator. Their daughter, Kate Caroline, was born on September 19, 1991. Dr. Kimbrough is a cat person and so is his wife. They have one cat and a dog named Winne. Dr. Kimbrough really loves to hunt and fish – more than anyone we know!!! He likes to run a tight ship and if you have to wait to see him, it’s not because he wants you to. We all work hard to see you at your scheduled appointment time. We hope this helps you get to know your doctor better.
