Nisha Shah, MD, was raised in Florida and graduated from the Honors Program in Medicine BS/MD program at The University of Miami with a major in biology and minor in chemistry.
During medical school, she served as Editor in Chief of the Medical IBIS, a student-run research magazine. As the recipient of grant awards from the Melanoma Research Foundation and Fight for Sight, Dr. Shah completed a research fellowship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. Her research has lead to the publication of several book chapters and peer-reviewed journals including Ophthalmology and Journal of Refractive Surgery as well as presentations at various national conferences.
After finishing her ophthalmology residency at Tulane University in New Orleans, Dr. Shah completed a fellowship in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at the renowned Roski Eye Institute at the University of Southern California/Los Angeles County Hospital. During her fellowship, she underwent additional refractive surgery training with the United States Navy at Camp Pendleton, California. As a recipient of LASIK surgery, Dr. Shah appreciates the benefits that laser vision correction can have from the perspective of her patients.
Dr. Shah is a member of local medical societies, including the Texas Medical Association and the Harris County Medical Society. She enjoys traveling with her husband and has undergone medical mission trips in Nicaragua and India. Her hobbies include tennis, painting, and dance choreography. She is fluent in medical Spanish and Gujarati. Dr. Shah looks forward to the opportunity to provide the best, personalized care for you and your loved ones
