Ocular Immunology and Uveitis
Kelly L. Larkin, M.D. is a board certified ophthalmologist who grew up in The Woodlands, Texas and received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Music from Texas A&M University, graduating Magna Cum Laude and with University Honors. She then completed her medical education at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. Following her ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Dr. Larkin completed her fellowship in Uveitis and Ocular Immunology at Casey Eye Institute at the Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon. Her subspecialty training has prepared Dr. Larkin to specialize in medical and surgical management of patients with uveitis, scleritis, orbital inflammation, and other inflammatory and infectious eye conditions. Dr. Larkin performs cataract surgery, with an emphasis on cataracts secondary to uveitis.
While in medical school, Dr. Larkin was awarded Outstanding Medical Student in Ophthalmology, and during ophthalmology residency she was awarded Best Research Presentation by a resident at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston Department of Ophthalmology Annual Research Meeting in both 2010 and 2011. Dr. Larkin’s research findings have been published in international peer-reviewed journals, and she has presented her findings at several national meetings. She continues to engage in research regarding current and novel therapies for uveitis. She also actively participates in the editorial process, providing feedback as an expert reviewer in the field of uveitis for international medical journals and contributing content for ophthalmology textbooks. She lectures on topics relating to uveitis and ocular immunology to local ophthalmology and rheumatology residents, fellows, and faculty from institutions including Baylor, Houston Methodist Hospital, Texas Children’s Hospital, University of Texas at Houston, and University of Texas Medical Branch.
Dr. Larkin is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Uveitis Society, the Association for Vision and Research in Ophthalmology, the Harris County Medical Society, the Houston Ophthalmological Society, the Texas Medical Association, and the Texas Ophthalmological Association.
Dr. Larkin is excited to be back in Houston with her husband, Dr. John Larkin, an emergency physician, and her daughter, Leah. When she is not treating patients, Dr. Larkin enjoys traveling, hiking, music, baking, reading, and spending time with her daughter.
Dr. Larkin sees patients at the Gramercy and Woodlands locations.
