M. Dolores Diaz M.D.

Dolores Diaz M.D. Since the young age of fifteen, it has always been the dream of Dolores Diaz to become an eye doctor. Dr. Dolores Diaz attended the University of St. Thomas and then went on to graduate from the University of Houston with a Bachelor's degree in Biochemical and Biophysical Sciences. She continued her education by obtaining her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, TX. Dr. Diaz completed her internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio and Affiliated Hospitals. She spent two years working with Dr. Richard Ruiz, the Chairman of Ophthalmology at UT, in patient and clinical research. Dr. Diaz concluded her training by completing her residency at the University of Texas Medical School-Houston and Hermann Eye Center. Dr. Diaz has many hospital and surgery center affiliations including East Houston Surgery Center, St. John's Hospital, East Houston Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph Hospital, and Triumph Hospital. Dr. Diaz is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, has helped author several medical bulletins, and has been involved in numerous research studies. Dr. Diaz has been an active member in the medical community and her placements include the Medical Advisory Board, Interim Medical Director, and Medical Governing Board with the East Houston Surgery Center, and the credentialing committee with the East Houston Regional Medical Center.

Prior to medical school, Dr. Diaz worked for Houston Eye Associates (HEA) as an Ophthalmic Assistant and now life has come full circle as she rejoins HEA as a physician. Dr. Diaz is happy to be working for HEA and looks forward to seeing you at her East Houston office. Hugs are complimentary at the office and so are blessings.

Dr. Dolores Diaz was honored as 2014 Woman of the Year – Ophthalmologist by Solo Mujeres Magazine. Solo Mujeres Magazine was pleased to present Dr. Diaz with the award for her success, dedication, professionalism, commitment and leadership in the Health Category for the year 2014.

During her spare time, Dr. Diaz likes skiing, hiking, traveling, and continues to mark off one more thing on her list of "things to do in a lifetime." She also enjoys spending time with family and spoiling her god-daughter Sasha because she thinks Tia Loly ROCKS!
