Andrew C. Kopel, M.D.
Diseases and Surgery of the Retina & Vitreous
Dr. Kopel was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He then went on to receive his medical degree from the University of Texas at Houston Medical School. After completing an Internal Medicine internship, Dr. Kopel continued his ophthalmology residency at the Tulane Medical School in Louisiana where he received the O’Brien Award for excellence in research. Dr. Kopel returned to Houston to complete a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Diseases & Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine.
During his fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Kopel published several articles on topics including Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Macular Hole Repair, and Endophthalmitis.
Prior to joining Houston Eye Associates, Dr. Kopel was in private practice for several years in Bellaire and is board certifed, specializing in diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous. Dr. Kopel is married and has three children. In his spare time, Dr. Kopel enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, playing tennis, and learning Spanish.
